Strengthening one leader can significantly deepen community impact
Firsthand experience of ways our consulting has impacted ministries.

Across Bangladesh, God is transforming lives through local churches and believers serving their own communities. Care Groups are playing a crucial role in fostering community impact by helping families build sustainable livelihoods, improve health, encounter Christ through Scripture and prayer, and grow into multiplying communities of faith.
Families have launched small businesses, and locally managed savings funds have grown to more than 1.4 million taka in one region. New leaders and care groups are multiplying, allowing individuals from Muslim, Buddhist, and other backgrounds to encounter Jesus.
In recent gatherings alone, dozens have professed faith or been baptized, while thousands have heard the gospel through these locally led ministries, which emphasize effective discipleship training.
We have had the privilege of serving alongside these ministry leaders in Bangladesh—helping them examine what is working, challenge assumptions, sharpen strategy, strengthen disciple makers, and turn learning into action. Rather than imposing an outside program, our role has been to partner with local leaders as they refine their own ministry approach to achieve meaningful ministry transformation.
As leaders applied what they learned and developed others, the systems for discipleship and community transformation significantly expanded the ministry's reach.
One senior pastor described our service this way: “During your leadership, the ministry grew to more than double its previous size, reaching more people and expanding into new areas.”
This is the kind of fruit Accelerate exists to cultivate. Many ministries already possess the people, calling, experience, and opportunities needed for greater impact; often, they simply need someone alongside them to ask the right questions, identify what may be overlooked, sharpen the strategy, and help translate vision into more effective action.
The senior pastor continues, “This has become one of the most effective ministry approaches within Dhaka AG Church, and we desire to see it continue, grow, and bear even greater fruit for God's Kingdom.”
What God is doing in Bangladesh is their story—but it also illustrates what can happen when ministry leaders intentionally strengthen what they do, learn from experience, and pursue greater fruitfulness.
After participating in discipleship training and ongoing mentoring, Pastor Rajan began to see his ministry transformation in a new light.
Rather than relying primarily on preaching, he started helping his congregations put the love of Christ into action—listening to people, responding to practical needs, praying with families, and assisting individuals in discovering and applying Scripture for themselves.
As he explained, "That training changed my preaching. Now I guide people through discovery and participation, not just teaching. And they’re growing in faith because of it.”
This shift began producing community impact. When Arun, a man recovering from surgery, needed help, Rajan and the church surrounded him with prayer, practical care, and financial support. He subsequently made significant life changes and began attending church and engaging with Scripture.
“Their help gave me hope,” Arun shared. “I knew I wanted to change.” Mala, an elderly woman who had been largely alone, experienced the consistent care of believers and chose to follow Christ. “Through their care, I saw the love of Jesus,” she said. “That’s why I chose to follow Him.”
As these stories spread, more families began connecting with the church, Discovery Bible Studies took root, and Rajan witnessed spiritual and practical transformation extending through both communities.
This is why Accelerate invests in leaders. Sometimes the greatest opportunity for increased impact lies not in doing more, but in sharpening how we fulfill what God has already called us to do.
Through training, mentoring, thoughtful questions, and practical ministry tools, we help leaders examine their assumptions and strengthen their approach so they can serve more effectively.
Pastor Rajan’s story illustrates the multiplying potential: strengthen one leader, and the impact can ripple out to a church, families, and ultimately an entire community.

Through training, mentoring, and a simple Discovery Bible Study approach, a local ministry leader in Sri Lanka began gathering people in a village to encounter Scripture together, fostering significant community impact.
One of those who came was Mina, a broken woman whose painful choices and circumstances had left her publicly shamed and largely rejected by her community. At first, she rarely spoke—she simply came and listened.
Everything began to change when the group studied John 8 and encountered Jesus’ response to the woman caught in adultery. Mina was deeply moved by the grace she discovered in Jesus, and from that point forward, she rarely missed a gathering. Over time, her life and reputation underwent a remarkable transformation, exemplifying the essence of ministry transformation.
“Now she has become well known in the community for her life transformation,” a local leader shared.
But the story did not stop with Mina. She has since started her own Discovery Bible Study group in her home, where others are encountering God’s Word and several have come to faith through her testimony.
The disciple is now helping make other disciples through effective discipleship training.
This is the multiplication Accelerate seeks to help ministries cultivate. By walking alongside leaders, sharpening their approach, and equipping them with simple, biblical tools they can reproduce, ministry moves beyond what one pastor or leader can accomplish alone.
A leader was equipped to make disciples, Mina encountered Christ and was transformed, and now Mina is discipling others. This is generational disciple-making: what is received is passed on, multiplied, and entrusted to others.

Richard’s contribution significantly enhanced my perspective on our ministry, allowing me to view it from a broader, more strategic angle. His insights inspired me to think beyond merely conducting church activities and to place a greater focus on discipleship training, multiplication, and the development of local leaders. One of the key transformations in our ministry was the heightened emphasis on identifying, equipping, and empowering local leaders. These leaders can now effectively lead prayer groups, facilitate Bible studies, disciple others, and actively serve their own communities. As a result, our ministry strategy has become more focused, relational, and oriented toward community impact and multiplication. Richard helped us recognize that when disciples are trained and local leaders are developed, our ministry can reach a wider audience and thrive sustainably across various regions.
Richard supports our work by listening, offering guidance through thoughtful questions, and providing counsel from a valuable perspective that enhances our community impact. His insightful questions enabled us to find solutions to problems where we had previously been stuck. This strategic questioning facilitated a ministry transformation as we evaluated our initiatives from a new angle, allowing us to identify and discontinue inefficient activities while shifting our focus toward high-growth, fruitful teams. The simplified Bible study framework and streamlined discipleship training he introduced have empowered individuals to assess their own contexts, take practical steps, and replicate the training within their networks. We now witness a ripple effect as urban churches support rural congregations and rural churches launch pioneering missions into unreached territories.
Richard’s involvement has been a vital support to me personally as a leader and to our ministry's community impact. Through his insightful advice, thought-provoking questions, and extensive experience, he has helped me view our ministry and leadership from different perspectives, allowing us to think more clearly about how we can serve people effectively. His guidance has encouraged me to strengthen our planning, develop clearer strategies, and care more intentionally for pastors, churches, families, and individuals facing difficult situations. Additionally, he has supported me in traveling to remote provinces to enhance discipleship training and strengthen churches, ultimately helping to expand God’s Kingdom. As a result, our ministry has undergone a significant transformation, becoming more focused and better organized, and I have personally experienced growth in both leadership and confidence. His involvement has truly made a meaningful difference in my life and in our ministry.
Richard listened to our ideas, concerns, and experiences, equipping us to adapt the ministry to local needs, culture, and context, enhancing our community impact. His guidance in discipleship training helped us expand our vision, and under his leadership, the ministry grew to more than double its previous size, reaching more people and venturing into new areas. His focus on winning souls, making disciples, and church planting—along with reaching new people groups—enabled us to grasp and implement effective approaches to evangelism, discipleship, caring for people, and developing small groups. He also introduced fresh ideas and perspectives that contributed to significant ministry transformation, making our systems more practical and effective for sustained growth.
Richard trained and supported me, building my skills to become an effective trainer and facilitator. He mentored me to grow as a leader and guided me to focus on my strengths to impact others. He always encouraged me to be a multiplier—to train the next level of leaders and multiply disciples through effective discipleship training. His guidance helped us strategize our ministry activities at the ground level to achieve meaningful community impact and intended outcomes, prioritize actions that produce results, and plan and implement initiatives so that partners take initiative. His vision for church planting directed our focus toward disciple making and ministry transformation rather than merely physical activities. This approach enabled us to evolve into a capacity-building ministry rather than a project-funded ministry, empowering local churches to take the lead in reaching unreached people groups.
Our program in Bangladesh was navigating a period of severe crisis, and Richard’s leadership offered us a new ray of hope. Under his supervision, the program not only regained its lost momentum and vitality but also focused on enhancing our community impact. Through his mentorship, he helped unite our team around a clear and purposeful path, equipping us with essential training and knowledge on core ministry principles. He provided new resources and taught us how to use them effectively, allowing us to successfully share those lessons through our discipleship training with our disciples, volunteers, and pastors. His field evaluation and constructive feedback significantly enhanced the quality of our work, driving ministry transformation and keeping our efforts dynamic and moving forward.
Richard’s faithful leadership, training, and mentoring have been instrumental in shaping our ministry transformation in Bangladesh. Through his guidance and discipleship training, we moved from empty hands to being equipped with the Discovery Bible Study, discipleship, and church planting training aimed at reaching unreached people groups. That contribution has borne fruit—disciple groups have started, disciples are being made, house fellowships are forming, and communities are experiencing significant impact. What was invested in us continues to sustain and multiply the work.
